Anchor charts should be constructed WITH the students during the mini-lesson, not beforehand. By participating in the creation of the charts, students better remember the focus of the lesson. Remember – it’s ok if they’re not pretty! Functionality and clarity is most important when creating anchor charts.

Over the year you will create many anchor charts for your workshops and they will begin to overflow your walls. One creative option is to take photos of the charts and post these photos on the wall for students to refer to (above) or create a notebook with photos of older charts students might like to refer back to.
